MONTREAL EVENTS – A MONTREAL EVENT CALENDAR
Apart from its many film festivals, Montreal also boasts a wide variety of other events to suit everyone’s tastes. Montreal events start with the Montreal International Auto Show and ends with the Bal des Boys New Year’s Eve party.
MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
If you are an auto enthusiast then you will enjoy the Montreal International Auto Show where you can view many new cars and trucks and also various related accessories. This takes place in January.
FETE DES NEIGES
The Fete Des Neiges is a Montreal event that takes place in January and February and is one of the largest outdoor sporting events in Montreal. It includes such activities as dog-sled rides, tube rides, snow sculptures, and participants dress up in polar bear suits.
FESTIVAL MONTREAL EN LUMIERE
In February and March the Festival Montreal en Lumiere is a multimedia lightshow and culinary experience with a number of theatres, dance organizations, museums and restaurants participating.
COTTAGE AND COUNTRY HOME SHOW
If you are currently looking at doing home renovations or re-decorating then you may want to attend this Cottage and Country Home Show where over 400 exhibitors display their wares and give you new ideas that will help to create the home you want. This takes place in mid-February.
MONTREAL FILMS FESTIVALS
An important part of the Montreal events calendar is the many film festivals; the Montreal International Children’s Films Festival in February; International Festival of Films on Art; Vues d’Afrique African and Creole Film Festival in April; Montreal Jewish Film Festival in May; Fantasia Film Festival in July; World Film Festival in August; Montreal Festival of Nouveau Cinema in October; and the Cinemania Film Festival in November.
LITERARY EVENTS IN MONTREAL
If you are looking for Montreal events that celebrate literature then you will want to consider the Blue Metropolis event which is an international literary event where participants are treated to literature in a number of different languages including English, French, Spanish, and other languages. This is held in April.
There is also the Festival Voix d’Ameriques which is held in February and focuses on oral literature also in French, English, Spanish and Aboriginal languages.
ARTS FESTIVALS AND EVENTS
Another important section of the Montreal events calendar are the art exhibitions and festivals. One of these is the Festival International Expo Art Montreal. This event brings together over 100 Canadian and International galleries showcasing around 700 artists. These exhibits include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and more.
MONTREAL CHARITY EVENTS
For those who would like to contribute to something through Montreal events, you can attend the Segal Cancer Centre’s Underwear Affair which is a race where runners can run in boxers, briefs, or tracksuits to support research into fatal cancers occurring below the waist.
Another charity event is the Unite Against AIDS concert hosted by the Bell Centre to support UNICEF’s campaign against AIDS.
