NEW ORLEANS EVENTS
New Orleans events starts with the Sugar Bowl sporting event in January and ends with Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations. They include sporting events, the Mardi Gras celebrations, festivals, parades and more.
NEW ORLEANS SPORTING EVENTS
January starts with the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans and although the main feature of this event is the college football game, there are also many other sporting activities on this day such as a swimming invitational, sailing regatta, basketball, pep ralley and more.
MARDI GRAS CELEBRATIONS IN NEW ORLEANS
Mardi Gras is a citywide event in New Orleans that starts on January 6th, the Feast of Epiphany, and ends the day before Ash Wednesday. During this time there are many parties, parades, balls and other celebrations at no cost.
FRENCH QUARTER EASTER PARADE
If you are looking for New Orleans events around Easter then you may want to consider the French Quarter Easter parade. The parade kicks off at about 11:00 but there are also many other activities planned for the day.
SPRING FIESTA
Another event in New Orleans is the Spring Fiesta held in the French Quarter. During this Fiesta a number of homes are open to the public, tours are taken through the plantation homes, Creole cottages, patios and Garden District mansions. Apart from this there are also free classical concerts and opera.
JAZZ AND HERITAGE FESTIVAL
One of the New Orleans events that will particularly appeal to music lovers is the Jazz and Heritage Festival. Outdoor stages are set up at the New Orleans fairgrounds and play jazz, R&B, Gospel, African, Caribbean, Cajun, Blues, Ragtime, Folk, Bluegrass, Reggae and Country music. There are also other unofficial street bands, arts and crafts and food. This is held in the last weekend of April to the first weekend in May.
NEW ORLEANS WINE AND FOOD EXPERIENCE
If you are a food and wine connoisseur then one of the New Orleans events you need to attend is the New Orleans Wine and Food experience where different restaurants and wine merchants get together to provide a five day event to delight your taste buds. This event is held in May.
4TH JULY CELEBRATIONS IN NEW ORLEANS
If you are in New Orleans on the 4th July then come to the riverfront for a day of activities and fun for the whole family. The event closes at the end of the day with a spectacular fireworks display over the river.
HALLOWEEN EVENTS IN NEW ORLEANS
October is the month of Halloween and with it come New Orleans events specifically themed to this occasion. At the aquarium you can find “Scarium at the Aquarium”, a fun event including arts and crafts, stage shows, face painting and animal presentations.
Boo at the Zoo is another Halloween event including games, entertainment, trick or treating and a haunted house.
CHRISTMAS IN NEW ORLEANS
Then the end of the year brings us to Christmas and with is some special New Orleans events around this including lighting bonfires along the river, a concert in St Louis Cathedral or carolling in Jackson Square.
