PITTSBURGH EVENTS FOR READERS AND AUTHORS
If you love books, whether this is reading or writing them, then you should visit the annual Booklover’s Convention in Pittsburgh. This convention is now in its 25th year and offers 125 workshops and 300 authors visit and sign copies of their books.
CAR ENTHUSIASTS IN PITTSBURGH
One of the older events in Pittsburgh must be the World of Wheels Custom Car Show which in February 2008 was into its 47th year. If you enjoy cars, and in particular, custom cars then you should try to attend this event in Pittsburgh.
Another Pittsburgh event for car enthusiasts is the International Auto Show in April, this time focussing on new vehicles and those about to be released.
PITTSBURGH EVENTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Not to forget the children, Pittsburgh also offers an annual Kidapalooza family festival which is a great event for the whole family including games, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, karaoke, sports and more. The Kidapalooza family festival is held around March each year.
The Pittsburgh International Children’s Festival is another must for families with young children and includes an exciting program of theatre, live music, dance and puppetry. This event is in its 22nd year in May 2008 and is one of the largest of its kind in the country.
PITTSBURGH WINE FESTIVAL
If you love your wine then one of the Pittsburgh events you will not want to miss is the annual Pittsburgh Wine Festival that extends over a week and include dinners, seminars, an auction and a grand tasting. In addition to being an enjoyable event for the avid wine taster, it also helps to benefit the cancer centres in Pittsburgh.
PITTSBURGH EVENTS FOR THE MORE ACTIVE
If running is your thing then the Pittsburgh marathon is the event to join. This has become one of the premier races in the country and thousands attend to spur you on. This is also a time when various neighbourhoods en route have different festivals to make your race more interesting.
Another event for the runners and walkers is the “Race for the Cure” which is a 5km race in Pittsburgh in honour of breast cancer victims and survivors.
Pittsburgh sports events aren’t all about running or walking, there is also a nice, scenic cycling tour held in May and now in its 14th year. The cycles vary in length are specifically designed to be enjoyable, sight-seeing tours rather than races.
Whatever type of event you are looking for, whether it is cultural, active or business you will find Pittsburgh events to suit your tastes.
